Exporting Your Data
For backing up your Generators, we recommend using the encrypted backup feature of Passify instead of exporting. See "Backing up your data" for more information.
If you need to migrate your data to another, traditional password manager that stores passwords rather than algorithmically generate them, Passify provides the ability to export your passwords and 2FA tokens.
Exporting is one-way Exported data does not include information related to Passify's password generation algorithm. This means that you will not be able to re-import the exported data back into Passify. It is recommended to perform an encrypted backup of your Passify data using the Settings menu "Backup My Generators" before exporting.
Exported data is not encrypted! Once your data has been migrated, be sure to securely delete or store your exported data as soon as possible. Not doing so places all of your passwords and 2FA tokens at extreme risk of becoming compromised.
Exported data determined by Personal Secret As with all password generation, Passify uses the current Personal Secret to generate your passwords for export or print. Make sure that you've set the correct Personal Secret before exporting or printing your data. If you use multiple Personal Secrets, you will need to export or print separate versions of your data, switching Personal Secrets between each.
To export your Passify data:
- Tap the main Passify menu button
- Tap "Settings" from the menu items
- Swipe up to the section titled "Export & Print"
- Acknowledge the warning by tapping the "I understand the risks." button
- Tap the "Export My Generators" button and confirm your choice
- When complete Passify will confirm and display the filename of the exported data.
- Tap the "Print My Generators" button and confirm your choice to select the printer
Exported data location The exported data is in CSV (comma-separated value) plain-text format and will be created inside the Passify folder on your device. On iOS, you can use the Files app to locate and manage this file.
